I was asked to develop a premium South African wine brand for the Chinese market. The brand had to have a traditional, premium and distinctly South African feel while communicating something about the region where the wine comes from.
The name "Boucle No.8" translates to "Curl No.8". The number 8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture.
The logo design is inspired by the beautiful curly designs found on the gables of Cape Dutch architecture, which is unique to the region. And the illustration of the region is inspired by one of South Africa's most famous impressionistic artists, Pierneef.
